| Apartments for rent in a Country Villa on the border of Umbria and Tuscany | |
|
We consider ourselves very fortunate
to have found Villa Belveduto, a beautiful, rambling Umbrian country home,
superbly located, in a small hamlet, in the hills overlooking Lake Trasimeno,
on the border of Umbria and Tuscany. The villa is set in countryside typical
of both these regions; olive groves, vineyards, wheat fields and in late
Spring, fields of sunflowers abound. Within its communal grounds pine
and cypress trees provide ample shade in the sunny afternoons.

| Villa Belveduto belonged for centuries to the local land owning family. It is now privately owned and managed by us and we are pleased to be able to offer four recently restored self-catering apartments within its spacious environs. All have been converted with respect to the villas past, using only traditional Umbrian building methods and materials. Original features such as fireplaces, beamed or arched ceilings and terracotta floors were all retained. | |
We are an Anglo-Italian family and reside here, in the Villa, all the year around. We, therefore, are more than willing to be of help, when we can be, in providing information about local events and places to visit and eat which may not always be in the main tourist guides. We've found this is especially helpful for non- Italian speaking guests. The local 'festas',in particular are not to be missed. The celebrations range from venerating the local saint to 'Festa della Unita' and of course welcoming in various crops - the most famous being porcini mushrooms, olives and grapes, Or sometimes they exist merely to 'show off' the local cuisine. (Being so close to the lake we do have an optimum choice between that based on the local lake fish or the traditional pasta and meat based Umbrian/Tuscan cuisine.) Living in the region that we do all the local wines are excellent. |
